Rooted at Home began with a dream I’ve carried for as long as I can remember: to have a little farm of my own. But that dream didn’t begin here. Its roots reach all the way back to Brazil, my family, and the generations who came before me.

My family comes from the South of Brazil, where our Gaúcho roots run deep. My family had a farm, and growing food, raising animals, cooking from scratch, and sharing what you had were simply part of life. Some of my sweetest memories are of my Brazilian grandmother, Bia, who made the absolute best homemade bread. I can still remember the smell of it baking as clearly as if she were here with me today. Those memories remind me that food and traditions are about so much more than what’s on the table, they carry family, culture, love, and pieces of the people who came before us.

Now I get to create our own version of that life here with my family. Beside me is my incredibly talented husband, a builder by trade with quite the green thumb, who somehow manages to turn the ideas in my head into reality. And of course, we have our two official little farm helpers, Luan and Luca, learning, growing, getting their hands dirty, and making memories right alongside us. 🤍 One of my greatest hopes is that someday our boys will look back and remember helping Mom and Dad in the garden, gathering eggs, picking vegetables, making things in our kitchen, and watching this little dream grow. We’re not just growing a garden,  we’re growing memories for our children.

Rooted at Home is starting simply: a garden, a little farm stand, fresh eggs, homemade goods, family recipes, Brazilian favorites like brigadeiros and pão de queijo, seasonal harvests, and whatever else this journey brings us. Maybe one day it will become the bigger farm I’ve always dreamed about, but every dream has to start somewhere, ours is starting right here at home.

More than anything, we want Rooted at Home to be about community. We want to bring back a little of that old-fashioned spirit of neighbors supporting neighbors, stopping by the stand, sharing what we grow, trading what we have, and taking care of the community around us.

From my family’s farm in Brazil and my Gaúcho roots, to memories of Bia’s bread filling her kitchen, to the life my husband and I are now creating with Luan and Luca, it feels a little like life coming full circle.
